The 680CMY mixes color the way a designer expects: continuous CMY flags for smooth, stepless fades, plus a wheel of 9 colors with open, CTO and CTB for the moments when you want a hard color change or a tungsten-corrected look. Carrying CTO and CTB on board means you can warm a cool LED stage or cool a warm one without a gel run, and CMY lets you ride a color across a whole song instead of stepping between two presets.
A rotatable wheel of 7 replaceable gobos plus open gives you custom pattern projection that actually moves — the wheel rotates the pattern, so a breakup spins or travels across a stage instead of sitting still. Behind it sits a static wheel of 11 fixed gobos plus open for crisp textures and scenic depth. Because the 7 gobos on the rotating wheel are replaceable, you can order the Optional Extra Gobos set (8PCS) at $30 and load your own designs before a tour.
Two independent rotating prisms — an 8-facet and a 3-facet — sit in the optical path and can be layered, spun at their own speeds, or combined with either gobo wheel. That is where a hybrid head stops behaving like a wash light: one beam becomes 8 or 3 shafts turning through haze, which is the mid-air look that sells a dance floor or a festival stage. Because both prisms rotate, the effect stays alive instead of freezing into a static multi-beam.
The beam travels from a tight 4.9° spotlight to a wide 33.9° wash, so the same head can pick a soloist out with a hard-edged pool of light and then open up to cover the full band. On a small rig that range replaces a separate spot and a separate wash — real money saved, and one less fixture to hang, cable and focus on load-in day.
Pan runs 540° and tilt 270°, both on 16-bit scanning, so slow moves stay perfectly smooth instead of visibly stepping. That range covers a whole room from a single hang, so you are not repositioning fixtures mid-show when the band moves downstage. The 16-bit resolution is what you notice on a long fade move under a ballad, where an 8-bit fixture would chatter.
This head speaks RDM, so a compatible console can read and set its address and push firmware updates down the DMX cable you already have run — no laptop balanced on a road case, no separate upload box. It also runs standalone in Auto and Master-Slave modes when nobody is driving a desk, and the LCD touch display with 4 buttons keeps addressing and menu work quick at the back of a dark stage.
One 24-channel personality keeps the patch tidy: 5-pin XLR in and out for DMX, a Tru1 power input, and a 500W LED engine drawing 600W total from AC 100–240V at 50/60Hz. At 23 kg (50.71 lb) it is still a one-person hang from a truss or a lift onto a stand. Single units are $1,499, and every order ships free across the USA on most products with a 2-year warranty and a 30-day return policy.
Moving heads suit rigs that move with the show: clubs and small venues, touring and rental racks, band and theatre stages, corporate events and houses of worship.
